Privacy Policy — NaviMate Controller
Last updated: October 28, 2026
NaviMate Controller does not sell your data, does not show ads, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. This policy covers both the Android app and the iPhone (iOS) app.
The Android app sends nothing to us. During the beta, the iPhone app sends us three kinds of information, described in “iPhone app: information sent to us” below: usage records under a random ID, feedback you choose to send, and questions you ask the in-app helper.
Information we never collect
We never collect your phone numbers, contacts, message text, Siri requests, location, speed, photos, or what is on your screen. The app has no advertising and, during the beta, no user accounts.
Android: Accessibility Service
NaviMate Controller uses Android's Accessibility Service for two purposes:
- Receiving input from the NaviMate hardware controller. Key events from the controller are delivered to the foreground application, so the service uses
flagRequestFilterKeyEventsto receive controller button presses while a map application is in the foreground. - Reading the on-screen position of user interface elements. For example, the service reads the screen coordinates of the map application's route overview button so that the NaviMate hardware knows where to send its input.
Screen content read by the accessibility service is used only in memory, at the moment of the button press, to compute a screen coordinate. It is never stored, logged, or transmitted off the device.
The app does not perform touches or gestures. All input is generated by the physical NaviMate controller as standard HID reports.
Android: communication with the controller
The app sends screen coordinates and settings to the connected NaviMate device over USB or Bluetooth. The Android app does not send any data to us.
iPhone (iOS) app
- Bluetooth. The app uses Bluetooth to send settings (pan and zoom levels, button assignments, tap positions) to your NaviMate controller, and to receive controller events such as knob mode changes. Bluetooth runs in the background only to stay connected to your controller.
- Settings you enter. Button assignments may include a phone number, contact name, message text, or shortcut name that you type yourself. These are stored only on your iPhone and in your NaviMate controller’s memory. They are never sent to us.
- Screenshots. When you choose a screenshot to mark a tap position, you select it with the iOS photo picker. The app only reads the image you pick, keeps it in memory to show it on screen, and saves only the position you marked. The image is not stored or uploaded.
- Siri and Shortcuts. Some buttons run a Siri request or one of your Shortcuts. These requests are handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy; the app does not receive their content.
- Voice announcements. Spoken mode announcements are generated on your iPhone. The app does not use the microphone.
iPhone app: information sent to us
- Usage records. To learn which features drivers use and what fails, the app records events such as: which button function ran and with which press (for example “play/pause, double press” — never the number, name or text inside it), how often the joystick and knob were used, controller connect and disconnect, whether a call started or ended (not who called), knob mode changes, and setup steps completed. Each record has the time it happened and your iPhone’s time zone, so we can see usage by hour and day. Records also include your iPhone model, iOS version, app version and Siri language. They are linked only to a random ID the app creates when first opened — not to your name, Apple ID, phone number or device identifier. The first 8 characters of this ID are shown on the app’s Feedback screen.
- Feedback. When you use Feedback, we receive the text you write, the category you choose, your name only if you type it, and your last 20 usage records, so we can understand what happened.
- Ask NaviMate (AI helper). The questions you type and the answers are sent to our server and to Anthropic, which provides the AI model (Claude) as our service provider. We keep these conversations to improve the app and its answers. Please do not type personal information.
How we use it
Only to improve NaviMate: fixing problems, choosing default button layouts, and deciding which features to develop. We may publish summary statistics (for example, “the most used function among beta testers”) that do not identify anyone.
Where it is stored and who can see it
The data is stored on Cloudflare servers in the United States. We do not store your IP address with it. Only Luke Technology can view it. We share it with no one except the service providers named above (Cloudflare for storage, Anthropic for the AI helper), who process it on our behalf.
How long we keep it
We delete beta usage records, feedback and helper conversations within 12 months after the beta ends.
Your choices
You can ask us to see or delete your records at any time by emailing [email protected] with the record ID shown on the Feedback screen. Deleting the app stops all sending.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page.
